Size Questions

  • We recommend measuring the rack and referring to our SIZE GUIDE to be certain of the specific size you might need.
  • You can also make an accurate decision based on the rank and ship type:

US Navy rack mattress sizes are commonly based on rank/paygrade and ship type. Junior enlisted personnel in paygrades E-1 to E-6 will share the same berthing areas and almost always the "CREW" sizes. Senior enlisted personnel, or Chief Petty Officers, in paygrades E-7 to E-9 are the "CPO" sizes. Personnel in paygrades Officers in paygrades O-1 to O-5, assigned to staterooms, are almost always "OFFICER" sizes. Some Junior Officers, O-1 to O-3, on larger ships such as aircraft carriers and amphibious ships, are assigned to 3-4 person staterooms known as the J.O. jungle. These staterooms often have "CPO" and "CPO LONG" size rack mattresses. Coast Guard Cutter berthing and other Coast Guard vessels are always "CPO" size rack mattresses.

Most likely regular sizes. 90% of Crew berthings for E-1 to E-6 are regular "CREW" size rack sheets and mattresses. "CREW LONG" size rack sheets are more common on brand new CVN and LCS ship classes. "CPO LONG" size rack sheets are common in many CPO berthings. See our SIZE GUIDE for exact measurements.

If you are ordering Fleet Sheets as a gift for a Junior Sailor, E-1 to E-6, but not 100% sure, we recommend the regular "CREW" sizes.

Product Questions

In most cases, yes. White sheets are the Navy standard and you can never go wrong or potentially violate a ships' policy with white sheets.

Colors other than white are authorized at each ship's discretion, in accordance with their specific command berthing policy instruction.

Ships typically standardize white sheets to provide conformity during major inspections, such as INSURV. The vast majority of Commands' relax this policy during normal operations to allow their Crews' to personalize their berthing & stateroom racks, and improve morale.

Refer to your ship's command berthing policy instruction for specific guidance.

***INSURV does not have a requirement for berthing and stateroom rack sheets, blankets, or towel colors during inspection. During INSURV, inspectors require that berthings' and staterooms' follow the guidance in accordance with each ship's command berthing policy instruction.

Yes! Shipboard rack sheets made of cotton and poly/cotton blends are authorized for Navy (N) shipboard use.

The most applicable reference for shipboard rack bed-linen/bed-spreads is CCC-C-430F.

Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) does not provide any shipboard specification requirements for rack sheets as these items are considered consumables ("items replaced frequently for replenishment and/or normal wear & tear").

NAVSEA does provide shipboard specifications, especially relative to fire retardancy requirements, for rack pillows, rack curtains, and rack mattresses, as these items are NOT considered consumables.

Yes! During INSURV inspections, berthing inspectors reference each ships' command berthing policy instruction. There is no rack sheet, bed-linen, or bed-spread instruction/specification from NAVSEA for forces afloat used by INSURV or INSURV inspectors.

If the ships' command berthing policy instruction authorizes navy blue & gold striped rack bed-linen (available for custom quote on request), then inspectors will score based on conformity to the ships' command berthing policy instruction.

We have received positive feedback directly from INSURV inspectors where Fleet Sheets were in berthings' and staterooms' during INSURV berthing inspections. This feedback included an overall improved look, feel, and comfort vs ships' that used typical issued rack sheets during inspection.
